This is the first Anglo-American long weekend at Halsway.

As Pat Shaw did a lot to unite the dancing communities on both sides of the Atlantic it seemed appropriate to use his work as a starting point and then see how it has been developed in England by Alan Davies and the U.S.A. by Gary Roodman.

Tutors:

Henri & Jacqui Morgenstein
Alan Davies
Gary Roodman
Peter & Susan Swann

Alan Davies and Gary Roodman are well-known for the dances they have composed.

The weekend will give them a chance to present their dances in workshops and evening dances.

Alan will also present a selection of Pat Shaw’s dances

Susan & Peter Swann, play piano-keyboard & fiddle respectively. Their repertoire covers the whole spectrum from Traditional to Playford. They play regularly for courses and events at Halsway

The weekend is full board.

It starts with a sherry reception at 18.00 on Friday evening and ends after breakfast on Monday morning. On Sunday the main meal will be mid-day with a light supper in the evening. A cream tea on Sunday afternoon is included in the charge.

Friday night’s dance will be a “Meet and Greet” to give guests a chance to renew old acquaintances and meet new friends.

There will be two workshops on Saturday and Sunday mornings with each caller with a coffee break between them. The Saturday and Sunday evening Dance will be shared by the callers giving dancers a chance to enjoy dancing to Peter and Susan’s playing.

On Sunday afternoon after the cream tea there will be a Pat Shaw workshop

During Saturday afternoon Henri will drive the American mini bus to places of interest in the area. The destinations will depend on the weather and there could be a chance to do some gentle walking in the countryside for which walking shoes but not boots will be required. Other guests are invited to join in these excursions by car sharing

The number of places will be limited to ensure comfortable dancing space. Early booking is advised.
