Tutor: Christopher J Halstead

Christopher worked and trained with Richard Wilson in Cambridge and Didier Claudel in France before setting up his own workshop in 1997.

He works as a full time bow maker and repairer in Sheffield and has also been teaching violin bow-making in summer schools for the last ten years

In addition to the cost of tuition and accommodation there will be an extra charge to cover materials such as bow wood billet, semi manufactured frog, bow hair etc and is likely to be between about £140 to £200 and will depend upon the type of bow that you wish to make.

As well as modern bows for the violin family of instruments (i.e. violin, viola, cello, double bass) it is also possible to make a Baroque bow. The type of bow you wish to make will need to be stated on the booking form.

The class size will be limited to a maximum of five in order to ensure good supervision.

Before enrolling for the 5 ½ day course please contact Christopher Halstead ( ) to discuss the suitability of the week for your particular needs.
