William Winter

William was a fiddle player who lived from 1774 to 1861 in the Quantock Hills in Somerset. He played in a church band and for country dances and worked as a shoemaker in the villages of Lydeard St Lawrence and West Bagborough.

In July 2007 the Society published William Winters Quantocks Tune Book. A book and CD of tunes from the Winter manuscript which includes biographical information on William Winter and notes on the tunes by Geoff Woolfe. The CD includes 13 tracks from the book played by Robert Harbron, Nancy Kerr, Miranda Rutter and Tim Van Eyken
