"...the ghost would pelt the unwary visitor with apples" This is a reference to Bishop Beaufort, (who in 1431 presided over the trial of Joan of Arc), whose chapel fell into disuse, part being taken to Crowcombe Court. The remainder became a ruin and was used as an apple store.

"... the footsteps of the monk in the upper corridor have been heard by Miss Marden, her nurse and housemaid." It was not until the following morning they were able to clarify that it was none of them.

"...The White Lady was seen to walk through the wall into the library and appeared by a small boy playing on the floor of the lounge."
