FAMILY HISTORY:
ANOTHER FIRST FOR HALSWAY

Enid Pawley from Street, Somerset writes:

" My first visit to Halsway to a Family History course, a new venture for the Manor. I didn't know what to expect, but I received a warm welcome, a cup of tea and an introduction to the other members of the course.

There were fewer than I expected, but the numbers fluctuated over the days. Several people came and went as day members, but we all worked together.

The days became a pattern, with talks in the mornings, lunch then a trip to Crowcombe School to use the computers, then we returned to the Manor for comparing notes. Everyone was very helpful and the various members pooled their knowledge in a very co-operative way.

I shall take away memories of the friendship of the course, good food (very plentiful) hard but interesting work and the sight of the cyclamen under the trees at the western end of the Manor."

Since the course ended the Society has installed a "wi-fi" network in the Library and Lounge at the Manor so that future courses can remain on site for internet research
