Chairman replies to member consultation
'Paying For Halsway’
We asked your views on funding and were pleased so many of you replied – thank you.
We have had offers of donations and loans and a magnificent gift in memory of Ron Charles which we used to refurbish the Long Room, a task that was only possible at this time because of this gift and the work of a dedicated group of volunteers.
We wish to continue with redecoration and en-suiting the Manor as well as completing the new heating system for the Mews.
These plans are ready, just awaiting sufficient funds to complete them. We would also like to landscape and improve the gardens to further enhance the atmosphere of Halsway and, of course, new projects are always suggesting themselves.
It would be delightful if you felt able to help to pay for any of this and Robin Williams or I will be happy to discuss details as to how a donation, either large or small, could be put to good use.
Some of you have said that you would like to make a bequest in your will. There are several ways of doing this and I would suggest you contact your solicitor who is the best person to advise you, whether or not you have already made a will. We have already benefited from several such legacies for which we are most grateful.
We have decided not to proceed with debentures or commercial loans at present, though the idea has not been discarded completely.
A number of you gave us ideas for increasing revenue and attendance at our events and these we are considering. There will be more in future issues of Halsway Post!
Finance Officer.
Aubrey Hill has indicated that he will be standing down at the next AGM, which is a pity in many ways but especially as it will leave us without his expertise in presenting the accounts. If you feel you could help please respond to the advertisement in the Spring 2008 issue of Halsway Post
thank you.
